教育実践上の主な業績 年月(自) 年月(至) 概要
1 教育内容・方法の工夫(授業評価等を含む)
For my 4th year seminar class I made all course content available to students online to enable them to access class study materials even if they are absent due to job-hunting  2021/04  2021/12  I all made class and homework materials available on Moodle to help enable students stay on top of their studies even if they are absent. It also enabled me to notify students of any upcoming deadlines and other class information

I co-authored and published an English language textbook LifeChat (Perceptia Press)  2024/03    This textbook aims to help learners hold natural conversations in English by developing their confidence, fluency, and communicative competence. It utilizes students’ pre-existing grammatical and lexical knowledge to enhance their conversational abilities.
In my Business English class I developed a completely new syllabi of materials to keep class content up to date, cutting edge and directly relevant to students lives.   2021/09  2021/12  I built new course content to provide students with some of the most useful skills and strategies they will need to communicate clearly and confidently when using English for business or other work, in their future professional lives. These include planning and writing a resume and a cover letter, sending a Job/Internship inquiry email, preparing and practicing common job interview questions and learning how to build and successfully run a small business.
In my Global Migration 3rd year seminar class I produced a new set of materials to keep the class up-to-date, relevant and interesting   2021/04  2021/12  I built new course content to help students first develop a good, general understanding of what ‘migration’ means, who ‘migrants’ are, how migration and migrants affect them personally, and how the media influences their perspectives about migrants and migration issues. In addition, the course looks at case study examples - different countries and their migration issues - and students are able to express their opinions about them.
I co-created a textbook for 1st year English conversation classes.  2021/04  2022/04  The textbook, due to piloted from April 2022 is designed to encourage students to use English about their lived experience, using materials creatively designed by themselves.
Migration and Japan: Homogenous Delusions and Hoodwinked Discourse.   2012/06  現在に至る  I have written a blog article that discusses skilled worker migration experiences to Japan from a British perspective.
I created a new seminar course for third year students.       This seminar introduces Hans Rosling’s ""Factfulness"" and its influence on our worldview. Over two semesters, the course examines ten ancestral instincts shaping modern misperceptions. Students learn to access data, replacing exaggerated views with fact-based ones, enabling wiser decisions and reduced stress.

Awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).   2023/09    This body of work is entitled: Asylum and Immigration Policy, Policy Communities and the British News Media: A Case Study in Policy Making
Office hours  2012/09  現在に至る  I have office hours each week when students may come and discuss any problems they have.
Email submssion  2012/09  現在に至る  Students taking all of my conversation courses submit pre and post class ""follow up"" assignments by e-mail and receive comments and corrections by e-mail. Each writing assignment is designed to extend and improve the language taught in the lesson, but allowing students to research and thn provide their own opinions regarding the class topic.
Free conversation lunch hours  2012/09  現在に至る  I have a special office hour each week when students may come and have lunch with me to practice their English conversation scales in an informal setting.
