Students learn about the different art forms and how they shape and are shaped by society. In this course, students develop the necessary skills to critically analyze various forms of art. Even though the course does not teach technical artistic skills, students develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for art and its impact on society. Topics related to fine arts, photography, fashion, food, theatre and architecture etc. are covered. |

This seminar focuses on helping students to discover what social issues and problems they are most concerned about. Students are engaged in action research with NGOs and other civil society groups; and will develop critical thinking skills; as well as other skills that are useful for activism and social advocacy. |

In this seminar, we will explore various global issues/problems using the SDGs as a guiding framework. By engaging in active discussions and debates about common problems that affect society, students get opportunities to form their own opinions. Students are also equipped with the necessary written and oral skills to articulate their perspectives in a convincing but respectful way. |
Introduction to Cultural Studies クラスの工夫 |

The course focuses on key theories, concepts and methods in Cultural Studies; as well as the ways in which various aspects of culture affect everyday life. Students learn how identities, values and behaviors are (re)constructed and maintained through interaction and self-reflection. The course content includes topics related to race/nationality, gender, media, art, fashion and the physical environment. |

This seminar focuses on how to conduct and report about social research. Students learn the basic skills of designing, conducting and reporting about social research. Students are required to design and conduct a small research project and report the findings in oral and written form. |

In this seminar, we explore several moral/ethical dilemmas regarding social problems and issues. Students are required to critically analyze the causes and effects of old and new social problems; with the aim of finding possible solutions that are practical and morally acceptable. |
Multiculturalism Studies/Topics in Multicultural Studies クラスの工夫 |

The course focuses on key theories and concepts while also looking at practical aspects of cultural diversity. Students learn how cultural diversity (in terms of religion, language, food, interests etc.) affects different areas of society including education, work, community and entertainment. Students will also learn how cultural differences result in interpersonal and societal conflicts. |
Introduction to Media Studies クラスの工夫 |

In this course, we explore what it means to study media and culture in a modern context. We adopt a critical perspective to analyze the role that media, culture and creative processes play in shaping social relationships and social structures.With a blend of theory and practice, this course will help students to develop critical thinking skills as well as creative skills. |
