In this class, students develop confidence in expressing ideas and opinions on various contemporary topics in English (e.g. study abroad, education, international marriage, the environment, ecotourism, and the news). Students will also work together to share and discuss ideas and improve their critical thinking skills, writing skills, and reading skills. |

In this seminar, students analyze, evaluate, and compare current issues in societies around the world using the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to guide our discussions. Through these conversations, students will be able to form their own opinions about common problems that affect society and think of possible solutions to solve them. |

Students analyze and break down the elements involved in various rituals and ceremonies that take place within different cultures. This course will help students develop critical thinking skills such as critical comparison as well as creative skills. |

This seminar encourages students to discover what social problems and issues that are most important to them. In doing so, they can engage in action research with civil society groups and organizations, develop critical thinking skills, and other skills that may be useful in their future such as essay writing. |

Students learn about key theories, concepts, and methods in Cultural Studies. In class, students discuss the ways in which different aspects of culture influence their daily lives. Topics include—but are not limited to—individuality, gender, family, education, race, consumption habits, fashion, food, media, and art. |

In this course, students explore various social problems facing the wolrd today and critically analyze the causes and effects involved. By engaging in critical analysis about social issues, students are able consider the moral/ethical dilemmas involved in these issues to find possible solutions that are practial and morally acceptable. Students learn to formulate logical and convincing arguments and to respectfully agree or disagree with differing opinions. |
